Our History

We lived in Mountain Iron, MN, where we ran our boarding kennel and raised our four young children when we decided to add a Golden Retriever to our family. Rob worked full-time as a dog trainer, ran the boarding business, and competed in AKC hunt tests with the dogs. Denise’s side of the kennel operation focused on their Labrador Retriever breeding program, carefully selecting the best dogs to represent “The Captain’s Labradors.”

Adding a Golden to our family seemed natural, so Denise started looking for one that would fit well into our lifestyle. We were lucky enough to purchase a petite female from Colorado as our foundation bitch: Duckbusters Topbrass Kickass JH, a.k.a. “Goldie.” Goldie was a sweet, biddable girl who warmed the hearts of all who met her! 

Our first Golden Retriever litter was born in April 2003. It was raised under "The Captain's" prefix, sired by Frisbees Hi-Point OS, and produced our then 10-year-old daughter's first Golden, "Tug." With a bit of help from her dad, Dallas trained and competed in AKC events with her Tug and was able to exhibit him. The Captain's Tuggo War, JH, CGC, TDI, was Dallas' constant companion until he passed away at age 14.

Goldie went on to have two additional litters for us, both sired by a handsome, talented Golden loved by Pat and Thaddeus Jones named "Apollo," OTCH MACH Sunfire's Undeniable VCD3 UDX RAE TDX MH MXC MJB WCX OBHF ADHF ** OS. These two litters produced the following titled dogs:

*We also kept Genna's littermate, "Sandy," – Dal-Rhe Beach Bum, as part of our breeding program.

In addition to Goldie and her daughters, we acquired another female from Jo Meister in 2006. "Tailor," officially known as UKC CH River Run 'N' Dal-Rhe Dream Weaver BPIS, was also one of our foundation girls.
